color space
The range of reproducible color and brightness in a digital image, video, or display. A color space is defined by its color gamut (range of colors) and dynamic range (the ratio between the lightest and darkest parts of a scene or image).
Motion supports and exports projects in the high-dynamic-range (HDR) color space (such as HLG or PQ) and the standard-dynamic-range (SDR) color space (such as Rec. 709 or sRGB). SDR is a decades-old industry standard intended for traditional computer displays and HDTVs. HDR supports extra levels of brightness in each color component (red, green, and blue) in a way that reproduces how the human eye sees contrast. To view HDR content, you must have a device that supports HDR, such as an Apple Pro Display XDR or a MacBook Pro with a Liquid Retina XDR display.
