To update the Apple School Manager plug-in for PowerSchool, follow these steps to download and update to the latest Apple School Manager plug-in.

Check the version

The current version of the Apple School Manager plug-in is 1.5.

If you have the Apple School Manager plug-in installed, here’s how to check the version:

  1. Sign in to PowerSchool.

  2. Click System in the sidebar, scroll down and click System Settings, then click Plugin Management Configuration.

  3. Check the version next to Apple School Manager:

Download the Apple School Manager plug-in

Use this link to download the latest plug-in: Download Apple School Manager plug-in, named AppleSchoolSync.zip. The plug-in needs to remain a ZIP file, so make sure that your browser doesn’t automatically uncompress (expand) it to an AppleSchoolSync folder. For example, in Safari, Control-click the link, then choose Download Linked File from the shortcut menu. If the download uncompresses to a folder, compress the folder to make it a ZIP file again.

Install the plug-in

Follow these steps to install the plug-in for the first time.

  1. Sign in to PowerSchool.

  2. Click System in the Setup area of the sidebar, then scroll down to the Server section and click System Settings.

  3. Click Plugin Management Configuration.

  4. Click Install, click Choose File, select the Apple School Manager plug-in (AppleSchoolSync.zip) that you downloaded, click Upload, then click Install.

  5. Select the Enable checkbox next to Apple School Manager, then click Enable.

  6. Click Apple School Manager, then click Data Provider Configuration. Keep this page open, and use the information to update the Client ID and Client Secret.

Update the plug-in

Follow these steps to update from a previous version.

  1. Sign in to PowerSchool.

  2. Click System in the Setup area of the sidebar, then scroll down to the Server section and click System Settings.

  3. Click Plugin Management Configuration, click Apple School Manager.

  4. Click Update, click Choose File, select the Apple School Manager plug-in (AppleSchoolSync.zip) that you downloaded, click Upload, then click Submit.

  5. Click Enable.

The Client ID and Client Secret for the PowerSchool plug-in do not change when the plug-in is updated. However, if the next sync with PowerSchool is unsuccessful in Apple School Manager, follow the instructions in the next section.

Update the Client ID and Client Secret

After you install the Apple School Manager plug-in, add the Client ID and Client Secret in Apple School Manager.

  1. Open a new browser window, then sign in to Apple School Manager.

  2. Click Settings in the lower-left corner, click Data Source, then click Edit next to Student Information System.

  3. Copy the Client ID and Client Secret from the page you kept open in the previous section, paste them into the Client ID and Client Secret fields in Apple School Manager, then click Save.

  4. Click Refresh next to Last Data Sync.
