Auto Sampler makes it easy to create sampler instruments that you can use in MainStage and Logic Pro. You can create a sampler instrument from a MIDI-capable hardware synthesizer, from a software instrument, or from a combination of synthesizers, software instruments, and effect plug-ins. Use the Round Robin and Velocity Editor features to create more dynamic sampler instruments.
If the audio source you want to sample sounds slightly different each time you play it, you can capture these variations using Round Robin. Capture up to eight of these variations per each sampled note. In the Auto Sampler, select the number of variations you wish to sample by clicking the Round Robin pop-up menu.
Once Auto Sampler finishes sampling and you load the new instrument into the Sampler, you can hear how each consecutive note plays a slightly different sample. This variation can result in more expressive, natural sounding performances.
You can use the Velocity Editor to customize velocity layers before you start sampling a source. Hold the pointer over either the Velocity Layers or Velocity Response pop-up menu to view the editor in the bottom of the window.
Above, the editor shows 5 layers, with a standard linear response. Each velocity is shown as a horizontal blue line, with its velocity displayed. Drag the lines up or down to adjust their velocities.
When you've manually adjusted one or more velocity layer, the Velocity Response menu displays Custom.
