Set your AirPort Base Station or AirPort Time Capsule for another country or region

Different regions use different wireless frequencies for Wi-Fi devices. Selecting the right country or region as part of setup ensures that your AirPort Base Station or AirPort Time Capsule meets local regulations.

The AirPort Base Station and AirPort Time Capsule are designed to work in the region where you purchased it. When setting up your AirPort Base Station or AirPort Time Capsule, you're prompted to select the country or region where you're using the device.

If you move to another country in the same region, you can change the Country Code for your device. Use AirPort Utility on your Mac, iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to reconfigure the device after you move:

On your Mac

  1. Open AirPort Utility.

  2. Select your device.

  3. Click Edit.

  4. Click the Wireless tab.

  5. Click Wireless Options.

  6. Choose your region from the Regulatory Region menu.

If your country or region isn’t listed, your AirPort Base Station or AirPort Time Capsule isn't supported in that region and shouldn’t be used there.

On your iOS device

  1. Open AirPort Utility.

  2. Tap your device and enter the device password if prompted.

  3. Tap Edit.

  4. Tap Advanced.

  5. Tap Wi-Fi Settings.

  6. Tap Country.

  7. Tap a region from the list.

If your country or region isn’t listed, your AirPort Base Station or AirPort Time Capsule isn't supported in that region and shouldn’t be used there.
