Use Adaptive Power to extend the battery life of your iPhone

Adaptive Power helps extend the battery life of your iPhone when you use it more. It works automatically in the background, so you don't have to manage it. Adaptive Power uses on-device intelligence to predict when you'll need extra battery life based on your recent usage patterns. Then, it adjusts as needed to help your battery last longer that day.* Adaptive Power doesn't manage performance while you use features that require maximum performance, such as when using camera or playing games with Game Mode on.

Adaptive Power is on by default on these models:

  • iPhone 17

  • iPhone 17 Pro

  • iPhone 17 Pro Max

  • iPhone Air

Adaptive Power is off by default on these models:

  • iPhone 16

  • iPhone 16 Plus

  • iPhone 16 Pro

  • iPhone 16 Pro Max

  • iPhone 16e

  • iPhone 15 Pro

  • iPhone 15 Pro Max

When turned on, Adaptive Power can:

  • Make performance adjustments

  • Lower screen brightness by a small amount

  • Limit background activity

  • Turn on Low Power Mode when your battery reaches 20 percent

Turn Adaptive Power on or off

  1. Go to Settings > Battery > Power mode.

  2. Turn Adaptive Power on or off.

Here's how to be notified when Adaptive Power turns on during the day:

  1. Go to Settings > Battery > Power Mode.

  2. Turn Adaptive Power Notifications on or off. If you turn off notifications, Adaptive Power will still help extend battery life.
