Before You Begin

Warning

Read Battery Safety and follow workspace and battery handling guidelines before you begin.

Remove the following parts before you begin:

Tools

  • Adjustable torque driver (10–34 Ncm)

  • ESD-safe tweezers

  • Nitrile or lint-free gloves

  • Nylon probe (black stick)

  • Torque driver (black, 0.35 kgf cm)

  • Torx Plus 4IP 25 mm bit

  • Trilobe 44 mm half-moon bit

Refer to a full list of tools required for all repairs.

Caution

  • Avoid touching the camera lenses, front camera grounding springs, or nearby parts.

  • The LiDAR Scanner is part of the camera module. These two modules should not be separated.

Important

If you replace this part, it's recommended to run Repair Assistant in order to finish the repair. Repair Assistant will be available on the device after you’ve completed all reassembly steps.

Removal

Note: If you’ve already completed the removal steps, skip to reassembly.

  1. Use a torque driver and the trilobe bit to remove one trilobe screw from the camera connector cowling.

    • Remove the camera connector cowling as shown and save it for reassembly.

    • Lift the end of the camera flex cable off the connector.

    • Lift the ends of the two stacked camera flex cables off the connectors.

      • Caution: Don’t separate the camera flex cables or touch the grounding pad attached to the top camera flex cable. If the grounding pad is damaged, the camera will need to be replaced.

  2. Use the adjustable torque driver and 4IP bit to remove three 4IP screws from the camera.

    • Lift the camera out of the enclosure.

      • Caution: Don’t lift the camera by the flex cables.

    • Gently place the camera cap over the camera lenses as soon as you remove the camera from the enclosure.

      • Important: Covering the camera lenses is recommended to prevent contamination.

Reassembly

Caution: If the camera cap on a replacement part is damaged or missing, order a new replacement part.

  1. Remove the camera cap and inspect the lenses. Ensure that they are free of debris.

  2. Tilt the front camera into the enclosure and lower it into position.

    • Important: Ensure that the top edge of the camera is aligned with the lip of the enclosure.

  3. Set the torque value on the 10–34 Ncm adjustable torque driver to 29.5 Ncm. Use the adjustable torque driver and 4IP bit to install the following three new 4IP screws into the camera:

    • One screw (923-13733) (1)

    • One screw (923-13947) (2)

    • One screw (923-13732) (3)

  4. Press the end of the camera flex cable to the connector.

  5. Peel the red liner from the bottom camera flex cable.

  6. Press the end of the bottom camera flex cable to the connector.

  7. Peel the blue liner from the bottom camera flex cable.

  8. Peel the red liner from the top camera flex cable.

  9. Press the end of the top camera flex cable (2) to the connector.

    • Important: Ensure that the camera flex cables (1, 2) are securely attached to the connectors.

  10. Reinstall the camera connector cowling. Hook the cowling tab into place first. Then lay the cowling flat over the ends of the camera flex cables.

  11. Use the black torque driver and trilobe bit to install one new trilobe screw (923-13720) into the camera connector cowling.

Reinstall the following parts to complete reassembly:
