iPhone 17 Main Microphone
Before You Begin
Warning
Read Battery Safety and follow workspace and battery handling guidelines before you begin.
Tools
Adjustable torque driver (10–34 Ncm)
Crosshead 44 mm half-moon bit
ESD-safe tweezers
Nylon probe (black stick)
Super screw 44 mm half-moon bit
Super screw 50 mm bit
Torque driver (gray, 0.55 kgf cm)
Torque driver (green, 0.45 kgf cm)
Torque driver (orange, 0.85 kgf cm)
Trilobe 44 mm half-moon bit
Refer to a full list of tools required for all repairs.

Caution
Never reinstall a screw after it has been removed. Install only new screws. Most iPhone screw grooves are covered in adhesive that can’t be reused. Discard screws according to your local recycling guidelines.
Removal
Note: If you’ve already completed the removal steps, skip to reassembly.
Important
Complete back glass removal steps 1 through 4. Then continue to step 1.
Use a torque driver and the trilobe bit to remove the four trilobe screws. Then complete the entire step before continuing to the next step.
Remove the logic board lower cowling and save it for reassembly.
Lift the ends of the battery flex cable (1) and the back glass flex cable (2) off the connectors.
Caution: You must disconnect the battery flex cable first to ensure that the iPhone stays turned off.
Hold the back glass by the edges. Pull the tabs on the suction cups to release them from the back glass. Then set the back glass facedown on a clean, flat surface.
Use a torque driver and crosshead bit to remove the nine crosshead screws. Then complete the entire step before continuing to the next step.
Remove the bottom speaker.
Remove the Taptic Engine connector cowling and save it for reassembly.
Lift the end of the Taptic Engine flex cable off the connector. Remove the Taptic Engine.
Use a torque driver and super screw bit to remove the two super screws from the main microphone. Then complete the entire step before continuing to the next step.
Lift the end of the main microphone flex cable off the connector. Remove the main microphone from the enclosure.
Important: The main microphone is held in place by strong adhesive. Pull the main microphone toward the top of the enclosure until the microphone separates from the adhesive.
Reassembly
Screw Diagram

Use ESD-safe tweezers to remove all adhesive from the enclosure. Use an ethanol or IPA wipe to clean the enclosure.
Use ESD-safe tweezers to peel the protective liner from the adhesive on the main microphone. Then position the main microphone in the enclosure by aligning the screw holes. Press and hold the top of the main microphone for 15 seconds to adhere it to the enclosure.
Use the orange torque driver and super screw bit to install one new super screw (923-13755) into the main microphone.
Set the torque value on the 10–34 Ncm adjustable torque driver to 10 Ncm. Use the adjustable torque driver and super screw bit to install one new super screw (923-13866) into the main microphone.
Use the gray torque driver and crosshead bit to install one new crosshead screw (923-13854) into the main microphone.
Use the green torque driver and trilobe bit to install one new trilobe screw (923-13861) into the main microphone.
Press the end of the main microphone flex cable to the connector.
