How to prepare your Mac Studio for Apple Trade In

If you opted to trade in your Mac Studio, you'll get a trade-in kit in the mail with everything you need to ship your Mac Studio to Apple. You’ll have 14 days to return your Mac Studio once you receive your new device.

Before you ship your Mac

  1. Back up your data. If you need help transferring data, schedule an appointment at an Apple Authorized Service Provider or an Apple Store at getsupport.apple.com. It is your sole responsibility to back up all existing data, software, and/or programs from your product. Apple is not responsible for loss, recovery, or compromise of data, software, or programs on your trade-in product.

  2. Sign out of iCloud.

  3. Turn off your firmware password.

  4. Deauthorize your computer for content purchases.

  5. Erase your hard disk.

Pack your product

  1. Remove the top foam insert from the box.

  2. Set your Mac Studio in the bottom insert.

  3. Place the top foam insert on top of your Mac Studio.

  4. Insert the box flaps into the inserts and close the box.

  5. Seal the box with tape and mail the box to Apple.* If there is a battery sticker pasted on the outside of the box, please make sure the battery sticker is not obstructed.

Ship your product to Apple

  1. Find the name of the courier on the return shipping label (or elsewhere in the packing materials) and visit its website to arrange a collection or find a drop-off location.

  2. Get a receipt from the courier.

  3. Check your new device shipment email for a link to check the status of your trade-in.
