iMac (24-inch, 2023, Four ports) Battery
Before You Begin
Remove the following part before you begin:
Tools
Nylon probe (black stick)
Support wedge kit (076-00507)
Torque driver (teal, 0.75 kgf cm) (923-08085)
Torx plus 3IP half-moon bit (923-08468)
Refer to a full list of tools required for all repairs.
Important
This model requires two CR2016 batteries. Replacement batteries can be purchased from electronics supply retailers.
Removal
Position the housing with the logic board facing up.
Position the flat end of the black stick underneath the battery board cable and close to the connector. Then lift the end of the battery board cable off the connector.
Use the teal torque driver and 3IP half-moon bit to remove the two 3IP screws (923-09787) from the battery cover. Then remove the battery cover.
Remove the battery from the housing.
Reassembly
Warning: Install only a CR2016 battery. There is a risk of explosion if the battery is installed incorrectly or replaced with an incorrect type of battery. Dispose of used batteries according to local environmental laws and guidelines.
Position the housing with the logic board facing up.
Position the battery in the battery board with the positive (+) side up.
Position the battery cover over the battery.
Use the teal torque driver and 3IP half-moon bit to reinstall the two 3IP screws (923-09787) into the battery cover.
Press the end of the battery board cable to the connector.
