Enter text and numbers in Keynote for iCloud
You can add content to a table in several ways. You can type directly into cells, copy and paste content from somewhere else, or use autofill to copy the same content across cells or to complete patterns or sequences for you. You can always edit or clear a cell after you add content to it.
Add text or numbers
You can add any text or numbers to cells, then adjust the appearance or format as needed. For example, you can change the font size or style, or format numerical data as currency, percentages, and so on.
Go to Keynote for iCloud , then sign in to your Apple Account (if necessary).
In your presentation, select a table cell in the table, then type.
To change the appearance or format of the cell’s contents, select the contents, then do any of the following:
Change the font, text style, or alignment: Click Cell at the top of the Format sidebar on the right, then make your choices.
Change the format of numerical data: Click Data at the top of the Format sidebar on the right, click the Data Format pop-up menu, then choose an option.
To move to the adjacent cells, select a cell, then use the arrow keys on the keyboard. Use the Tab key to move one cell to the right.
Autofill one or more cells with content from adjacent cells
You can use autofill to quickly fill adjacent cells in a row or column with the same formula or data.
Go to Keynote for iCloud , then sign in to your Apple Account (if necessary).
In your presentation, select the cells in the table with the content you want to copy.
Drag the small circle at the bottom right of the cell selection over the cells where you want to repeat the data.
Autofilling overwrites existing data with the content you’re adding.
Autofilling doesn’t establish an ongoing relationship among cells in the group. After autofilling, you can change the cells independently of each other.
Tip: You can also copy and paste content from a cell or range of cells, then paste them anywhere in the table. If you copy multiple cells, but select a single cell as the paste destination, the pasted content fills the same number of cells that were copied. If you select more cells for the paste destination than you originally copied, the content repeats to fill the cells.
Autofill cells with sequential content or patterns from adjacent cells
You can quickly fill a row or column with a logical sequence of data—for example, a series of numbers, letters, or dates. You can also autofill cells using a pattern of values. For example, if two selected cells contain 1 and 4, the values 7 and 10 are added when you drag over the adjacent two cells (the values increase by 3).
Go to Keynote for iCloud , then sign in to your Apple Account (if necessary).
In the table in your presentation, type the first two items of the series in the first two body cells (not header or footer cells) of the row or column you want to fill.
For example, type A and B, January 1 and January 2, or the numbers 1 and 3 in the first two cells.
Select the cells you just filled, then drag the small circle at the bottom right of the cell selection down the column or across the row.
The sequences or patterns are filled in the additional cells for you. For example, A, B, C…, January 1, January 2, January 3…, or the numerical pattern 1, 3, 5…, and so on.
Autofilling doesn’t establish an ongoing relationship among cells in the group. After autofilling, you can change the cells independently of each other.
