Out-of-warranty service

Repairs are considered out of warranty when:

  • Your iPod is over one year old
  • Your iPod has an issue that’s not covered under warranty or consumer law, like accidental damage or damage caused by unauthorized modifications

We might be able to fix your iPod for an out-of-warranty fee. If we can’t fix it, you might have to replace it. Your replacement iPod will be new or equivalent to new in both performance and reliability. Contact your service representative for details. The Apple Limited Warranty is in addition to rights provided by consumer law.

Battery service

The Apple Limited Warranty covers a defective battery, but it doesn’t cover wear from normal use. We might need to test your iPod to find the cause of your battery issue.

If your battery has a manufacturing defect and it's covered by our warranty, an AppleCare Protection Plan, or consumer law, we'll replace your iPod at no additional cost.

If you’re covered by AppleCare Protection Plan and your iPod battery can hold less than 80 percent of its original capacity, we'll service your iPod at no charge.

If your battery service isn't covered by warranty, AppleCare Protection Plan, or consumer law, we can repair or replace your iPod for a fee.

Screen repair

If your iPod screen is broken, we might be able to service it for an out-of-warranty fee. Accidental damage isn't covered by Apple warranty. The cost to service it depends on your iPod model. If your screen cracks due to a defect, it’s covered by Apple warranty and consumer law.

We'll run a diagnostic test to see if your iPod needs any other repairs. If it does, we'll let you know.
