If features on a webpage don’t work in Safari on Mac

If features on a webpage don’t work, options that help Safari handle special content may be turned off.

Open Safari for me

  1. Make sure the webpage is open.

  2. In the Safari app on your Mac, choose Safari > Preferences, then click Security.

  3. Make sure this checkbox is selected: “Enable JavaScript.”

  4. Click Websites.

  5. On the left, click Content Blockers.

  6. Make sure Off is chosen in the pop-up menu next to the website.

  7. On the left, click Pop-up Windows.

  8. Make sure Allow is chosen in the pop-up menu next to the website.

  9. Make sure the plug-ins in the column on the left are selected.

If a plug-in isn’t listed, look for a placeholder on the webpage, such as “Click to use [Plug-in].” Click it for more information.

  10. Click each plug-in and make sure On is chosen in the pop-up menu next to the website.

If the features still don’t work, you may need a plug-in. Look for a placeholder on the webpage, such as “Click to use [Plug-in],” then click it for more information.
