Delete books and audiobooks from your device

Find out how to delete books, audiobooks, PDFs and other digital files from the Apple Books app.

Delete books, audiobooks or PDFs from your iPhone or iPad

1. Open the Books app.

2. On your iPhone, tap Library, then find the item you want to delete. On your iPad, look under Library in the sidebar and find the item you want to delete. If the item is part of a series, first open the series.

3. Tap the More button on the item that you want to delete.

4. Tap the Remove button.

5. To remove the item from your device, choose Remove Download. If the item is a PDF or didn't come from the Book Store, you can also tap Delete Everywhere to delete it from your Library.

Delete books, audiobooks or PDFs from your Mac

1. Open the Books app.

2. In the sidebar, look under Library and find the item you want to delete. If the item is part of a series, first open the series.

3. Click the item, then from the menu bar choose Edit > Delete.

4. To remove the item from your device, choose Remove Download. If the item is a PDF or didn’t come from the Book Store, you can also click Delete Everywhere to delete it from your Library.

If the option to Delete is dimmed after you've clicked Edit, then that item isn't downloaded to your Mac.

Hide books, audiobooks and PDFs if you can’t delete the item

Instead of deleting items from the Books app, you can hide them so they appear only on the devices you want. If you see the iCloud icon next to an item in the Books app, it’s hidden from that device. While the item isn’t downloaded on that device, it’s stored in iCloud, so you can still access it when you want.
