If your surroundings appear blurry when viewed through Apple Vision Pro

Apple Vision Pro has an array of advanced cameras and sensors that work together to give you a real-time view of what’s around you. Find out what to expect, and what to do if your surroundings look blurry.

Seeing your surroundings through Apple Vision Pro

When you view what’s around you through Apple Vision Pro, you’re seeing it through the main cameras on the front of the device.

Just like with all cameras, lighting is important. You’ll have the best view of your surroundings when you use Apple Vision Pro in a well-lit environment. Good lighting helps show your surroundings clearly. It also helps you use Vision Pro safely.

If you’re wearing Apple Vision Pro and your surroundings seem blurry, distorted or grainy, first try increasing the lighting in the room you’re in. Turning on lamps and lights, or letting in more indirect natural light during the day, will help you get the best experience.

If your surroundings look blurry in Apple Vision Pro

If you’re wearing Apple Vision Pro and your surroundings seem blurry, distorted or grainy:

  • Increase the lighting around you. As with other cameras, the cameras in Apple Vision Pro can show noise and grain when you use the device in a dim or dark environment. Turn on lamps and lights, or let in more indirect natural light during the day, to see your surroundings best.

  • Clean the Apple Vision Pro cover glass to remove any smudges.

  • Check your Accessibility settings. If you’ve turned on Ignore Eye Movements to Stabilise in Settings > Accessibility > Display & Text Size, this can affect how your surroundings appear through Apple Vision Pro.

If everything looks blurry in Apple Vision Pro

If you’re wearing Apple Vision Pro and everything seems blurry, including your surroundings and digital content such as apps and windows in visionOS:

Using Apple Vision Pro in very low light

Good lighting is important for making your surroundings as clear as possible when viewed through Apple Vision Pro, and for detecting objects around you. If you’re in an environment with very low light, Apple Vision Pro will switch automatically to a mode that’s optimised for darker conditions.

When Apple Vision Pro enters this mode, an alert will appear that says “Low light detected. Remain stationary while using Apple Vision Pro in low light, as environment awareness features will be limited. To resume full tracking, brighten your lighting.”

To find out whether your lighting conditions have brightened enough to resume full tracking, open Control Centre. If a message appears below Control Centre that says “Low light. Brighten your lighting”, increase the brightness around you for the best Apple Vision Pro experience.
