About purchases not billed through the App Store or the App Store’s In-App Purchase system

If you’ve paid for an app, a purchase within an app or a subscription outside Apple’s ecosystem, contact the developer for billing support or a refund. Apple is unable to provide support for these purchases.

Purchases that aren’t supported by Apple

  • In the European Union: Buying apps from alternative app marketplaces, and all purchases or subscriptions made within apps installed from alternative app marketplaces

  • Apps from the App Store with External Purchases that don’t use the App Store’s In-App Purchase system

Making purchases or sharing payment method information outside the App Store and the App Store’s In-App Purchase system comes with risk of new threats to security and privacy. You may have to share your payment information with additional parties, creating more opportunities for bad actors to steal sensitive financial information. There are risks of not receiving digital goods and services that you pay for, and it may be more difficult to find out how to cancel a subscription. Helpful App Store features – such as Report a Problem, Family Sharing, subscription management and Ask to Buy – are also not available for these transactions.

You can easily tell what purchases you’ve made that are supported by Apple. View your purchase history associated with your Apple ID. For purchases made outside the App Store’s private and secure commerce system, Apple won’t be able to assist users with refunds, purchase history, subscription cancellation and management, violations of user data privacy, abuse, or fraud and manipulation, in addition to issues that make the user experience less intuitive.
