Purchase and download Final Cut Pro, Logic Pro, or another Pro App on your Mac

When you purchase an Apple Pro App, make sure you’re signed in to the Apple Account that you want associated with the app so you get critical updates and other features.

Purchase Pro Apps

There are several ways to purchase Pro Apps:

  • Purchase individual Pro Apps exclusively from the Mac App Store.

  • Purchase Final Cut Pro or Logic Pro preinstalled when you buy your Mac online apple.com.

  • Qualifying college students, teachers, and educational institutions can get all five professional applications for video and music at a special price with the Pro Apps Bundle for Education.

Download a Pro App on Mac

  1. On your Mac, choose System Settings from the Apple menu, then click Apple Account at the top of the sidebar to confirm you’re using the right Apple Account.

    • If your Mac has multiple users and you’re not signed into the right Apple Account, choose Apple menu > Log out [your username], then log in to the correct account.

    • If you’re not signed in to an Apple Account, learn how to sign in.

  2. Open the App Store app on your Mac, then find the Pro App you want to purchase:

  3. Click the price button, then follow the instructions. If you see the Open or Update button instead of a price button next to the app, then you already purchased the app.

After you’ve purchased and downloaded the app, you’re entitled to the following when you sign into the same Apple Account on this or another Mac:

  • App updates.

  • Downloadable content included with Final Cut Pro, Logic Pro, or MainStage.

  • The ability to redownload the app (for example, if you bought a new Mac or after erasing your startup disk after troubleshooting or repair).

  • The ability to install the app on other Mac computers that you own, provided that you log in with the same Apple Account that you used to purchase the app.

Find your Pro App

After you confirm your purchase, your download should start automatically. To open your new app, look for the app in your Applications folder. After you open the app, you can add it to the Dock for quick access.

If you can't find a newly-installed Pro App

Not seeing your app? Try these options:

  • If the app doesn't appear in your Applications folder, redownload the app. When you redownload an app, you don't have to pay for it again.

  • If you want to download an app that a family member bought from the App Store, make sure that they’ve set up Family Sharing, Then you can download the app.
