Keyboard shortcuts and gestures in Maps on Mac
There are several ways to navigate maps, including using keyboard shortcuts. If you have a trackpad, you have additional options.
To find shortcuts for common commands, look in the menus.

Show your current location | Click the Current Location button in the toolbar (or use the Touch Bar). Press Command-L. | ||||||||||
Move up or down, left or right | Press and hold the mouse or trackpad, then drag the map. On a trackpad, you can also drag using two fingers. Press the arrow keys. | ||||||||||
Rotate the map | Click and hold the compass while you drag left and right, or up and down. On a trackpad, rotate using two fingers. Press Option-Left Arrow (to rotate counterclockwise) or Option-Right Arrow (to rotate clockwise). | ||||||||||
Tilt the map | Click and hold the 3D button while you drag up and down. | ||||||||||
Return to the north-facing orientation | Click the outside of the compass. Press Command-Up Arrow. | ||||||||||
Zoom in | Click the zoom in button in the lower-right corner of the map. Double-click. On a trackpad, pinch two fingers open. Press Command-Plus Sign (+). | ||||||||||
Zoom out | Click the zoom out button in the lower-right corner of the map. Press the Option key while you double-click. On a trackpad, pinch two fingers closed. Press Command-Minus Sign (-). | ||||||||||
Show traffic | Click the Show pop-up menu, then choose Show Traffic. | ||||||||||
See an incident report | Click a marker on the map. There are four markers: a crash icon , a construction icon , a closed road icon , and a general alert icon . | ||||||||||
Switch between map and satellite views | Click the toolbar buttons. Press Command-1 or Command-2. | ||||||||||
Show 3D map | Click the 3D button . Press Command-0. | ||||||||||
Show Labels | Click Satellite in the toolbar, click the Show pop-up menu, then choose Show Labels. | ||||||||||
Drop a pin | Control-click, then choose Drop Pin. Press Shift-Command-D. If you have a Force Touch trackpad, force click. | ||||||||||
Add directions or a location to your Favorites | With the directions or location showing, press Command-D. | ||||||||||
