iPhone 17 Bottom Speaker
Before You Begin
Warning

Tools
Adjustable torque driver (10–34 Ncm)
Crosshead 44 mm half-moon bit
Crosshead 50 mm bit
ESD-safe tweezers
Nylon probe (black stick)
Torque driver (green, 0.45 kgf cm)
Torque driver (teal, 0.75 kgf cm)
Trilobe 44 mm half-moon bit
Refer to a full list of tools required for all repairs.

Caution
Avoid touching the grounding springs on and near the bottom speaker.
Removal
Note: If you’ve already completed the removal steps, skip to reassembly.
Important
Complete back glass removal steps 1 through 4. Then continue to step 1.
Use a torque driver and the trilobe bit to remove three trilobe screws. Then complete the entire step before continuing to the next step.
Remove the logic board lower cowling and save it for reassembly.
Lift the ends of the battery flex cable (1) and the back glass flex cable (2) off the connectors.
Caution: You must disconnect the battery flex cable first to ensure that the iPhone stays turned off.
Hold the back glass by the edges. Pull the tabs on the suction cups to release them from the back glass. Then set the back glass facedown on a clean, flat surface.
Use a torque driver and the crosshead bit to remove the four crosshead screws from the bottom speaker. Remove the bottom speaker.
Caution: Don’t damage the grounding spring on the bottom speaker.
Reassembly

Ensure that the rubber gasket is correctly positioned as shown. If the rubber gasket is out of position, use ESD-safe tweezers to reposition it.
Position the bottom speaker in the enclosure.
Set the torque value on the 10–34 Ncm adjustable torque driver to 14.5 Ncm. Use the adjustable torque driver and adjustable torque driver crosshead bit to install one new crosshead screw (923-13869) into the bottom speaker.
Use the teal torque driver and crosshead bit to install the following three new crosshead screws into the bottom speaker:
Two screws (923-13851) (1)
One screw (923-13850) (2)
Use the green torque driver and trilobe bit to install one new trilobe screw (923-13861) into the bottom speaker.
Caution: Don’t damage the grounding spring on the bottom speaker.
