MacBook Air (15-inch, M2, 2023) Lid Angle Sensor
Before You Begin
Important
Before beginning the repair, ensure that the device is running macOS 15.3 or later.
Remove the following parts before you begin:
Tools
Nylon probe (black stick)
Torque driver (blue, 0.65 kgf cm)
Torx Plus 1IP 44 mm half-moon bit

Important
If you replace this part, it’s recommended to run Repair Assistant in order to finish the repair. Repair Assistant will be available on the device after you’ve completed all reassembly steps.
Removal
Use the flat end of the black stick to lift the end of the lid angle sensor flex cable off the connector.
Use the flat end of the black stick to move the lid angle sensor flex cable aside to access the 1IP screw (1).
Use the blue torque driver and 1IP bit to remove the 1IP screw from the lid angle sensor (2).
Important: Discard the 1IP screw. The 1IP screw cannot be reinstalled.
Remove the lid angle sensor from the enclosure.
Reassembly
Align the slot and screw hole on the lid angle sensor flex cable with the pin and screw hole in the top case.
Hold the lid angle sensor in position (1). Use ESD-safe tweezers to position one new 1IP (923-08984) screw into the lid angle sensor (2). Then use the blue torque driver and 1IP bit to install the screw.
Important: Ensure that you use install a new 1IP screw.
Press the end of the lid angle sensor flex cable to the connector (1). Then lay the flex cable flat (2) as shown.
