OS X Server (Mavericks): Remove pre-release version before installing OS X Server

Some services may not start or function correctly if you update a pre-release version of OS X Server (Mavericks) to the final release.

To install the final release of OS X Server (Mavericks) on a Mac that has a pre-release version of OS X Server installed, you must delete the pre-release version and all its associated data. Important: All service data will be removed.

After installing the final release, you can migrate service data from a server running OS X Server (Mountain Lion), Lion Server, or Mac OS X Server v10.6 Snow Leopard. For more information about upgrade and migration options, see this page for Mountain Lion or this page for Lion and Snow Leopard.

To install the final release of OS X Server (Mavericks) on a Mac that has a pre-release version of OS X Server installed:

  1. Move these to the trash:

    • The pre-release version of Server app.

    • /Library/Preferences/com.apple.serverd.plist

    • /Library/Preferences/com.apple.servermgrd.plist

    • The folder /Library/Server

  2. Install OS X Server (Mavericks) via the Mac App Store.
