Start and submit activities in Schoolwork
Activities are the tasks your teacher sends to you as part of an assignment. For example, your teacher might send you and your entire class an assignment with instructions to watch an attached movie, submit an essay, or complete a task in an app that provides student progress.
If your school enabled the Student Progress feature and you work on an activity your teacher sent in an assignment, all available progress data is shared with you and your teacher. The progress-reporting app automatically sends information as you work on the activity in the app (for example, time spent on the activity, the percentage completed, quiz scores, hints used, or points earned). The data available depends on the type of activity as defined by the app developer. For document and link activities, Schoolwork automatically sends information (time spent) as you complete the activity. At a minimum, every activity that supports progress reporting sends time spent data.
For an exit ticket activity, Schoolwork automatically sends information (time spent, number of questions answered) as you complete the activity.
Start and submit an activity
In the Schoolwork app , do one of the following in the sidebar:
Tap Due Next, then tap an assignment.
Tap a class, tap Due, then tap an assignment in Due Today or Due Next.
Tap Start, Open, or Add File.
Schoolwork opens the activity right where your teacher wants you to start working.
Work on your activity, return to Schoolwork, then tap Mark Done.
Progress-reporting apps can automatically mark an activity done. In this case, when you complete all activities in the app, Schoolwork displays a message confirming the progress-reporting app is marking the activity done.
When you finish all activities in an assignment, Schoolwork submits your work to your teacher and moves the assignment to the Done views. If you change your mind and decide you are not done with an activity, tap Mark Not Done.
Note: Schoolwork doesn’t report progress when you do work not assigned in Schoolwork. You can still mark the activity done, but if you finish the activity before your teacher sends it in an assignment, Schoolwork doesn’t report your progress data. For example, if your teacher sends you an activity to read Chapter 1 in a book and you read Chapter 2 as well, Schoolwork only reports your progress for Chapter 1. If your teacher later assigns you a new activity to read Chapter 2, you can mark the activity done. However, unless you read Chapter 2 again, no progress data is reported for that chapter.
