Enter WINS settings on Mac
Windows Internet Naming Service (WINS) is part of Microsoft Windows servers. It maps server names and locations with Internet Protocol (IP) addresses.
If your network requires you to use a WINS server, enter the settings for the server in Network settings.
See Change WINS settings.
On your Mac, choose Apple menu > System Settings, then click Network in the sidebar. (You may need to scroll down.)
On the right, click the network service you want to set up to use a WINS server.
Click Details, then click WINS.
Enter the NetBIOS name you received from your network administrator.
Enter the workgroup you want to use.
Click the Add button , then enter the IP address of the WINS server. Check with your network administrator if you don’t know the address.
Click OK.
You can use different WINS servers for the different network services you use.
