Removal

Note: If you’ve already completed the removal steps, skip to reassembly.

Important

Complete back glass removal steps 1 through 3. Then continue to step 1.

  1. Use a torque driver and the trilobe bit to remove five trilobe screws. Then complete the entire step before continuing to the next step.

    • Remove the front camera connector cowling and save it for reassembly.

  2. Use a torque driver and the crosshead bit to remove three crosshead screws. Then complete the entire step before continuing to the next step.

    • Remove the back glass cowling and the logic board cowling and save them for reassembly.

    • Lift the ends of the battery flex cable (1) and the back glass flex cable (2) off the connectors.

      • Caution: You must disconnect the battery flex cable first to ensure that the iPhone stays turned off.

    • Hold the back glass by the edges. Pull the tabs on the suction cups to release them from the back glass. Then set the back glass facedown on a clean, flat surface.

Screw Diagram

  • Note: Some screws may come in a bag labeled with a 452 part number. They will be included with the screw kits, but can be ordered separately using the equivalent 923 part number.

    • 452-12992 = 923-13972

    • 452-13023 = 923-13698

  1. Position the replacement top speaker in the enclosure and align the top speaker gasket with the indentation.

    • Ensure that the grounding spring is making contact with the pad on the enclosure. If it isn't, use ESD-safe tweezers to reposition it.

  2. Set the torque value on the 10–34 Ncm adjustable torque driver to 11 Ncm. Use the adjustable torque driver and crosshead bit to install one new crosshead screw (923-13972) into the top speaker.

  3. Set the torque value on the 10–34 Ncm adjustable torque driver to 10 Ncm. Use the adjustable torque driver and crosshead bit to install one new crosshead screw (923-13698) into the top speaker.
