MacBook Pro (13-inch, M2, 2022) Input/Output Board

Before You Begin

Remove the following parts before you begin:

Tools

  • Adjustable torque driver (10–34 Ncm)

  • Nylon probe (black stick)

  • Torx T5 bit

  • USB-C charge cable

Removal

  1. Insert the Torx T5 bit into the 10–34 Ncm adjustable torque driver. Use the 10–34 Ncm adjustable torque driver and T5 bit to remove the two T5 screws (923-05249) from the I/O board.

  2. Hold the edges of the I/O board and gently slide it out of the ports.

Reassembly

  1. Slide the I/O board into the top case.

  2. Set the 10–34 Ncm adjustable torque driver to 11.5 Ncm.

  3. Use the adjustable torque driver and T5 bit to partially reinstall the two T5 screws (923-05249) into the I/O board.

  4. Plug both ends of the USB-C charge cable into the ports to ensure I/O board alignment. Adjust the alignment of the I/O board until the ends of the cable are easy to insert and remove.

    •  Danger: Ensure that the USB-C charge cable isn’t plugged into an electrical outlet.

  5. Keep the USB-C charge cable plugged into the ports. Then use the adjustable torque driver and T5 bit to fully reinstall the two T5 screws into the I/O board.

  6. Unplug the USB-C charge cable from both ports.
