Use Low Power Mode to save battery life on your iPhone or iPad

When the battery level gets low, Low Power Mode reduces background activity on iPhones and iPads to extend battery life.

Turn Low Power Mode on or off

On iPhone 15 and later models:

  1. Open Settings.

  2. Tap Battery.

  3. Tap Power Mode.

  4. Tap to turn Low Power Mode Mode on or off.

On iPhone 14 and earlier models:

  1. Open Settings.

  2. Tap Battery.

  3. Tap to turn Low Power Mode on or off.

Additional ways to turn Low Power Mode on or off:

  • From Control Center: Swipe down from the top-right corner of your screen and tap the battery icon.

  • Ask Siri: Say "Siri, turn on Low Power Mode" or "Hey Siri, turn off Low Power Mode".

  • If you have (a supported device and) Adaptive Power enabled, Low Power mode will turn on when your battery goes below 20%.

Low Power Mode extends the battery life of iPhones and iPads when the battery level gets low. Low Power Mode reduces the amount of power that the device uses by affecting certain features, such as:

  • When video streaming and large downloads are happening, 5G does not turn off on iPhone 12 and 13 models. Otherwise, 5G turns off on most devices.

  • Auto-Lock: defaults to 30 seconds

  • Display brightness: reduced

  • Display refresh rate: limited up to 60 Hz on iPhone and iPad models with ProMotion display

  • Visual effects: some effects turn off

  • iCloud Photos: temporarily paused

  • Automatic downloads: turned off

  • Email fetch: turned off

  • Background app refresh: turned off

When Low Power Mode is active, the battery icon in the status bar turns yellow. When you charge the device to 80% or higher, Low Power Mode turns off.
