Removal
Note: If you’ve already completed the removal steps, skip to reassembly.
Important
Remove the back glass. Then continue to step 1.
Using ESD-safe tweezers, gently peel the silver adhesive tab from the battery until you reach about a 45-degree angle.

Connect the red (positive) connector of the 9-volt battery to the silver adhesive tab on the iPhone battery. Then connect the black (negative) connector of the 9-volt battery to the lower right grounding screw on the bottom speaker.

Hold the connection for 1 minute 30 seconds.
Important: If the connection is not secure, the adhesive will not debond. If either or both clips disconnect, repeat steps 1 through 3.
Note: Adhesive removal time may increase during the product’s life. Adhesive removal can be accomplished by applying up to 30 volts, using alternate power sources such as DC power supplies. Higher voltage application will result in faster removal times.
Use the black stick to release the adhesive on the battery flex cable. Use ESD-safe tweezers to remove the adhesive from the battery flex cable. Hold the iPhone in place and use a suction cup to remove the battery from the enclosure.

If you feel resistance while attempting to remove the battery, repeat steps 1 through 3.
Warning: If you can’t remove the battery, stop the repair. You can find a service option at support.apple.com/repair.
Reassembly
Use ethanol wipes or IPA wipes to remove all residual adhesive from the enclosure.
Caution: The adhesive is transparent. You must wipe the enclosure five to ten times to ensure that the adhesive is removed.
Note: After cleaning, minor discoloration of the enclosure may be seen and is acceptable.
Peel the pink release liner off the underside of the replacement battery.
Important: Don’t remove the protective cover from the top of the battery yet.
Hold the battery over the enclosure with the protective cover faceup. Align the right edge of the battery with the logic board and the bottom edge of the battery with the bottom speaker. Then lower the battery into the enclosure.
The center of the repair tray has two slots. Position the repair tray and enclosure onto the battery press with one slot of the repair tray on one side of the battery press.

Flip down the lever at the top of the battery press to lower the roller onto the battery. Then slide the repair tray back and forth through the battery press three times to adhere the battery to the enclosure.

Flip up the red lever at the top of the battery press.

Position the repair tray and enclosure onto the other side of the battery press.
Repeat steps 5 and 6. Then remove the repair tray from the battery press and continue to step 9.
Hold the edges of the protective cover. Pull the release tabs on the protective cover to remove it from the battery.
Important: Don’t press the area over the tab you’re releasing.
Reinstall the following part to complete reassembly:
Warning
Gently shake the iPhone. If the battery feels loose, remove the back glass and the battery. Then complete battery reassembly with another replacement battery.
Important
A new battery is not charged. After you’ve completed all removal and reassembly steps, charge the device for a few minutes.
After you’ve completed all reassembly steps, Repair Assistant will be available on the device and is recommended to finish the repair. Learn how to initiate Repair Assistant.
