iPhone 17e TrueDepth Camera

The TrueDepth camera includes one or more lasers. Disassembly of the TrueDepth camera, damage to the TrueDepth camera, or failure to use genuine Apple parts could expose you to hazardous infrared laser emissions, possibly resulting in injuries to eyes or skin.
Tools
ESD-safe tweezers
Nitrile or lint-free gloves
Nylon probe (black stick)
Torque driver (green, 0.45 kgf cm)
Trilobe 44 mm half-moon bit
Refer to a full list of tools required for all repairs.
Caution
Avoid touching the grounding springs on the TrueDepth camera.
Important
If you replace this part, it's required to run Repair Assistant in order to enable security features. Repair Assistant will be available on the device after you’ve completed all reassembly steps.
Removal
Caution
Wearing the gloves is recommended to prevent contamination of the camera lenses.
Important
Complete back glass removal steps 1 through 4. Then continue to step 1.
Use a torque driver and trilobe bit to remove five trilobe screws.

Remove the lower connector cowling and save it for reassembly.

Remove the middle connector cowling and save it for reassembly.

Remove the upper connector cowling and save it for reassembly.

Lift the ends of the battery flex cable (1), the back glass flex cable (2), and two TrueDepth camera flex cables (3) off the connectors.
Caution: You must disconnect the battery flex cable first to ensure that the iPhone remains turned off.

Hold the back glass by the edges. Pull the tabs on the suction cups to release them from the back glass. Then put the back glass into an ESD-safe bag.
Then lift the TrueDepth camera out of the enclosure.

Reassembly
Put on the gloves to prevent contamination of the camera lenses.
Inspect the TrueDepth camera assembly. If it’s damaged, complete TrueDepth camera removal and reassembly steps with another replacement camera.
If you're reinstalling the existing TrueDepth camera, skip to step 4. If you're installing a replacement TrueDepth camera, use ESD-safe tweezers to remove the protective covers from the TrueDepth camera.
Caution: Don’t touch the front of the TrueDepth camera assembly.

Position the TrueDepth camera in the enclosure with the lenses face.
Caution: Don't press on the center metal bar on the TrueDepth camera.

Press the ends of the two TrueDepth camera flex cables to the connectors.

Position the upper connector cowling over the ends of the TrueDepth camera flex cables. Use the green torque driver and tribe bit to install two new trilobe screws into the upper connector cowling:
One trilobe screw (923-09820) (1)
One trilobe screw (923-08382) (2)

Reinstall the following part to complete reassembly:
