Use an Alva BC640 display with VoiceOver

When using your Alva BC640 braille display with VoiceOver on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, you can use the following key commands.

To ensure that your braille display uses the correct table, make sure that you have the latest version of iOS.

Navigation

VoiceOver action Display key
Move to previous item Smartpad Left
Move to next item Smartpad Right
Go to Status bar Smartpad 2
Activates the Back button if present Smartpad 3

Rotor

VoiceOver action Display key
Move to next item using rotor setting eTouch 4, Thumb 4, or Smartpad Down
Move to previous item using rotor setting eTouch 2, Thumb 2, or Smartpad Up

Interaction

VoiceOver action Display key
Double-tap the selected item Router Row 1 or Router Row 2
Select item under your finger Smartpad Enter or Thumb 3
Activates the Home button Smartpad 1

Reading

VoiceOver action Display key
Pause or continue speech Smartpad 4

Braille

VoiceOver action Display key
Pan braille to the left eTouch 1 or Thumb 1
Pan braille to the right eTouch 3 or Thumb 5
