If you want to share an Xsan volume directory from multiple fileservers

To protect your data, don't share a specific directory from two or more fileservers.

Multiple Xsan clients can access a specific directory and its contents at the same time. But you shouldn't share a directory from two or more fileservers that mount the Xsan volume as read/write. This applies when you share the directory via network protocols like AFP, SMB or NFS.

Write operations from multiple fileservers can corrupt your data. This is because fileservers don't use network protocols to coordinate simultaneous access to the contents of Xsan volumes.
