iMac (24-inch, M1, 2021, Four ports) High-Speed Flex Cable

Before You Begin

Remove the following parts before you begin:

Tools

  • Nylon probe (black stick)

  • Support wedges

Removal

  1. Position the housing with the back facedown and the top closest to you.

  2. Pull the tab to flip up the locking bar on the high-speed flex cable (1).

  3. Slide the end of the high-speed flex cable out of the connector on the adapter board (2).

  4. Pull the tab to flip up the locking bar on the high-speed flex cable (1).

  5. Insert the flat end of the black stick under the high-speed flex cable to loosen the adhesive between the flex cable and housing (2).

  6. Slide the end of the high-speed flex cable out of the connector on the logic board (3).

Reassembly

  1. Insert the logic board end of the high-speed flex cable into the connector on the logic board (1).

  2. Flip down the locking bar on the high-speed flex cable (2).

  3. Insert the adapter board end of the high-speed flex cable into the connector on the adapter board (1).

  4. Flip down the locking bar on the high speed flex cable (2). Then press the folded corner of the flex cable to adhere it to the housing (3).

    • Note: If you’re installing a replacement high-speed flex cable, remove the adhesive backing from the flex cable (3). Then press the folded corner of the flex cable to adhere it to the housing.

Reinstall the following parts to complete reassembly:
