Upgrade an Intelligence Mac to a Managed Mac in Fleetsmith
If you’ve set up mobile device management (MDM), all Mac computers you enroll with Fleetsmith have both the Fleetsmith agent and a Fleetsmith MDM profile. This means that if you decide to upgrade your Intelligence Mac computers, Fleetsmith automatically changes them to Fully Managed.
When you upgrade from an Intelligence device to a Managed device, you get all of the insights, inventory tracking functionality, and more. In addition to having all the Intelligence features, managed devices include:
Device health and security insight
The ability to install apps and settings from the Fleetsmith catalog
Remote lock and erase functionality
Downgrade a managed Mac
To downgrade a Fleetsmith managed device to an Intelligence device, you must archive the device in the Fleetsmith Admin Console and then reenroll it.
Upgrade an Intelligence Mac to a managed Mac
In the Fleetsmith Admin Console, click Devices in the sidebar.
On the Active devices page, sort devices by type to view which devices are Intelligence, then click the name of the device you want to upgrade.
Click Upgrade to Managed, then click Upgrade to Managed.
The Mac is now Fully Managed.
After you upgrade to a managed Mac, the apps and settings in your global profile apply automatically to the device. If the Mac is also associated with another profile, it gets those additional apps and settings.
Downgrade a managed Mac to an Intelligence Mac
In the Fleetsmith Admin Console, archive the Mac.
Ensure that profiles added by Fleetsmith to the Profiles pane of System Preferences on the Mac have been removed.
Click your name in the lower-left corner, click Preferences, download the Fleetsmith agent uninstaller, then run the uninstaller on the Mac. See Download the Fleetsmith agent uninstaller.
