iMac (24-inch, 2023, Four ports) Adapter Board

Before You Begin

Remove the following parts before you begin:

Tools

  • Adjustable torque driver (10–34 Ncm) (923-02995)

  • ESD-safe tweezers

  • Nylon probe (black stick)

  • Support wedge kit (076-00507)

  • Torque driver (teal, 0.75 kgf cm) (923-08085)

  • Torx plus 3IP 25 mm bit (923-07593)

  • Torx plus 3IP half-moon bit (923-08468)

Refer to a full list of tools required for all repairs.

Removal

  1. Position the housing with the logic board facing up.

  2. Use the 10–34 Ncm adjustable torque driver and 3IP 25 mm bit to remove the five 3IP screws (923-05559) from the low-speed flex cable cowling. Then remove the cowling and save it for reassembly.

  3. Use the flat end of the black stick to lift the two ends of the low-speed flex cable off the connectors.

  4. Use ESD-safe tweezers to peel off the polyester film tab from the right speaker cable connector.

  5. Use the flat end of the black stick to lift the end of the right speaker cable off the connector.

  6. Position the flat end of the black stick underneath the battery board cable and close to the connector. Then lift the end of the battery board cable off the connector.

  7. Pull the tab to flip up the locking bar on the high-speed flex cable (1). Slide the end of the high-speed flex cable out of the connector (2).

  8. Use the teal torque driver and 3IP half-moon bit to remove the five 3IP screws (923-05560) from the adapter board.

  9. Place the flat end of the black stick between the adapter board and housing as shown. Then use the flat end of the black stick to lift the adapter board out of the housing.

Reassembly

  1. Position the adapter board in the housing.

    •  Caution: Ensure that no cables are trapped under the adapter board.

  2. Use the teal torque driver and 3IP half-moon bit to reinstall the five 3IP screws (923-05560) into the adapter board in the order shown.

  3. Press the two ends of the low-speed flex cable to the connectors on the adapter board.

    •  Caution: Don’t bend the connectors.

  4. Set the torque value on the 10–34 Ncm adjustable torque driver to 11.5 Ncm. Use the adjustable torque driver and 3IP 25 mm bit to install the five 3IP screws (923-05559) into the low-speed flex cable cowling.

  5. Slide the end of the high-speed flex cable into the connector (1). Flip down the locking bar on the high-speed flex cable (2).

  6. Press the end of the battery board cable to the connector.

  7. Press the end of the right speaker cable to the connector.

  8. Apply the polyester film tab over the right speaker cable connector as shown.

    • Important: Use the flat end of the black stick to wrap the left side of the polyester film tab around the edge of the adapter board.

Reinstall the following parts to complete reassembly:
