MacBook Air (15-inch, M2, 2023) Antenna

Before You Begin

Remove the following parts before you begin:

Tools

  • Adjustable torque driver (10–34 Ncm)

  • Antenna tool

  • ESD-safe tweezers

  • Nylon probe (black stick)

  • Torque driver (blue, 0.65 kgf cm)

  • Torx Plus 3IP 44 mm half-moon bit

  • Torx Plus 4IP bit

Removal

  1. Use the blue torque driver and 3IP bit to remove the two 3IP screws (923-08925) from the antenna coaxial cable connector cowling. Remove the cowling and save it for reassembly.

  2. Use the black stick to lift one end of the antenna coaxial cable off the connector.

  3. Use the black stick to lift the other end of the antenna coaxial cable off the connector.

  4. Use the 10–34 Ncm adjustable torque driver and 4IP bit to remove the two 4IP screws (923-09236) from the antenna.

  5. Lift the antenna out of the top case as shown.

Reassembly

  1. Position the antenna in the top case.

  2. Use the black stick or ESD-safe tweezers to position one end of the antenna coaxial cable over the connector as shown (1). Then use the blunt end of the antenna tool to press the end of antenna coaxial cable to the connector (2).

    • Using the black stick

    • Using ESD-safe tweezers

  3. Use the black stick or ESD-safe tweezers to position the other end of the antenna coaxial cable over the connector as shown (1). Then use the blunt end of the antenna tool to press the end of antenna coaxial cable to the connector (2).

    • Using ESD-safe tweezers

  4. Position the antenna coaxial cable connector cowling over the ends of the antenna coaxial cables.

  5. Use the blue torque driver and 3IP bit to reinstall the two 3IP screws (923-08925) into the cowling.

  6. Set the torque value on the 10–34 Ncm adjustable torque driver to 19 Ncm. Use the adjustable torque driver and 4IP bit to reinstall the two 4IP screws (923-09236) into the antenna.
