Your MacBook (Retina, 12-inch, Early 2015) and later has two ports: a USB-C port and a headphone jack.
What you can do with these ports
Use the USB-C port to charge your computer. You do this with the Apple 29W USB-C Power Adapter and USB-C Charge Cable that came with your computer.
The USB-C port also supports data transfer and video out. Use the USB-C port to connect USB-C devices, or use a USB-C adapter to connect displays and other standard USB devices. With an adapter you can connect:
- HDMI and VGA displays, TVs, and projectors
- Other USB devices such as iPhones, iPads, and iPods for charging and syncing
- Other USB devices such as cameras, hard drives, and thumb drives for transferring data
Use the headphone jack to connect external speakers and headphones. You can also use this port with iPhone–compatible headsets (with microphone and remote).
