If an error occurred while updating your Apple Studio Display

If a warning symbol appears on your Studio Display, your display is in recovery mode and needs to be updated.

If an error occurs while updating your Studio Display, a warning symbolNo alt supplied for Image and support.apple.com/display/restore appear on your screen. Use the built-in display on your Mac or another display connected to your Mac to update your Studio Display.

  1. Make sure that your Mac is connected to the internet.

  2. Update your Mac to macOS 12.3 or later.

  3. Wait up to 15 minutes for your Mac to update your display. While it's updating, you might see an ellipsis iconNo alt supplied for Image, a message asking you not to unplug the display, or a blank screen. Don’t unplug your display or restart your Mac while the update is in progress.

  4. If a warning symbolNo alt supplied for Image still appears on your screen, unplug the Thunderbolt cable from your Studio Display and your Mac, then plug the Thunderbolt cable back into your Studio Display and Mac.

If you don't have another display to follow the steps above, or a warning symbolNo alt supplied for Image still appears on your screen, you can get in-person support at an Apple Store or Apple Authorized Service Provider
