Choose the correct email provider when adding an account to Mail

When adding an email account to Mail on your Apple device, you're asked to choose from a list of common email service providers. Because your email address might not include the listed provider’s name, or your provider delegates account authentication to different provider, use this article to find out which of these providers to choose.

Email providers for other email addresses

For email addresses not listed above:

  • If the email address is for a Microsoft Exchange-based email account, choose Microsoft Exchange from the list you see when adding your email account to Mail.

  • For any other email address, choose Other (or Other Mail Account) from the list, then follow the onscreen steps to manually set up your account. You might need to enter mail server addresses and other information, which you can get from your email provider.

If you need to set up your email account again

If the email provider you chose when adding your email account is not correct, remove the account from your device, then choose the correct email provider when adding it again. (If you don’t remove the account first, you might see a message that the email account already exists.)
