Sidebars are the areas on the left and right side of your document that you can close and open as needed to access formatting controls, page thumbnails, and more. To show the sidebar controls, do any of the following:
Show thumbnail images of each page: Click
in the toolbar, then select Page Thumbnails.Show the table of contents: Click
in the toolbar, then choose Table of Contents.Show formatting controls for the selected text or object: Click
in the toolbar. For example, if text is selected, controls for changing the font, text size, or style appear in the Format sidebar on the right. In a page layout document with nothing selected, the Format sidebar shows page layout controls. Show formatting controls for the entire document: Click
in the toolbar to show controls for formatting your document, such as page orientation and header and footer positions, in the right sidebar.
To close the left sidebar, click and choose Document Only. To close the right sidebar, click or .
