Studio Display XDR Right Fan
Before You Begin
Danger
Ensure that the AC power cord isn’t plugged into an electrical outlet.
Remove the following part before you begin:
Tools
Adjustable torque driver (0.3–1.2 Nm)
ESD-safe tweezers
Nylon probe (black stick)
Torx Plus 8IP 25 mm bit
Refer to a full list of tools required for all repairs.
Removal
Note: If you’ve already completed the removal steps, skip to reassembly.
Use ESD-safe tweezers to peel the polyester film tab away from the right fan flex cable connector.
Use ESD-safe tweezers to flip up the locking lever on the right fan flex cable connector. Then slide the end of the right fan flex cable out of the connector.

Use the flat end of the black stick to release the adhesive between the right fan flex cable and the housing.

Use the 0.3–1.2 Nm adjustable torque driver and 8IP bit to remove the four 8IP screws (923-14042) from the right fan.

Lower the right fan away from the top of the housing and lift it out of the housing.

Reassembly
Position the right fan in the housing as shown.
Caution: Ensure that the right fan flex cable isn’t trapped under the fan and that it can reach the right fan flex cable connector on the logic board.

Set the torque value on the 0.3–1.2 Nm adjustable torque driver to 0.55 Nm. Use the adjustable torque driver and 8IP bit to reinstall four 8IP screws (923-14042) into the right fan.


Slide the end of the right fan flex cable into the connector on the logic board. Flip down the locking lever. Then press the polyester film tab onto the end of the cable.

Press the right fan flex cable in the location shown to adhere it to the housing.
