MacBook Neo Trackpad Interposer Flex Cable
Before You Begin
Warning
Read Battery Safety and follow workspace and battery handling guidelines before you begin.
Remove the following parts before you begin:
Tools
ESD-safe tweezers
Nylon probe (black stick) (optional)
Torque driver (blue, 0.65 kgf cm)
Torx Plus 3IP 44 mm half-moon bit
Refer to a full list of tools required for all repairs.
Removal
Note: If you’ve already completed the removal steps, skip to reassembly.
Use ESD-safe tweezers or the flat end of the black stick to flip up the locking lever on the trackpad interposer flex cable connector on the trackpad. Then slide the end of the flex cable out of the connector.

Gently peel the trackpad interposer flex cable off the keyboard shield.

Remove any residual adhesive from the keyboard shield, using the black stick as necessary.

Reassembly
Slide the end of the replacement trackpad interposer flex cable into the connector on the trackpad. Then flip down the locking lever.

Remove the adhesive liner from the trackpad interposer flex cable.

Position the logic board in the top case over the trackpad interposer flex cable as shown, but don't press down on the flex cable.

Use the blue torque driver and 3IP bit to reinstall two 3IP screws (923-14182) into the logic board as shown.


Slide the ends of the trackpad interposer flex cable, microphone flex cable, and keyboard flex cable into the connectors on the logic board (1). Then flip down the locking levers on all three connectors (2).

Press along the length of the trackpad interposer flex cable where shown for 30 seconds to adhere it to the keyboard shield.

Use the flat end of the black stick or ESD-safe tweezers to flip up the locking lever on the trackpad interposer flex cable connector on the logic board. Then slide the end of the flex cable out of the connector.

Use the flat end of the black stick or ESD-safe tweezers to flip up the locking lever on the microphone flex cable connector. Then slide the end of the flex cable out of the connector.

Use the flat end of the black stick or ESD-safe tweezers to flip up the locking lever on the keyboard flex cable connector. Then slide the end of the flex cable out of the connector.

Use the blue torque driver and 3IP bit to remove two 3IP screws (923-14182) from the logic board as shown.

Lift the logic board out of the top case.

Press the trackpad interposer flex cable where shown for 30 seconds to adhere it to the keyboard shield.
