How to get Apple Intelligence

Apple Intelligence is the personal intelligence system that helps you communicate, work, and express yourself. It combines generative models with your personal context to deliver intelligence that is most useful and relevant to you, while protecting your privacy.

Get started with Apple Intelligence

Apple Intelligence is available in beta starting with iOS 18.1, iPadOS 18.1, macOS Sequoia 15.1, and visionOS 2.4 after your device language and Siri language are set to the same supported language.

To get started with Apple Intelligence, update your device to the latest software version. After you update, on-device Apple Intelligence models can start downloading (time to download varies). For the fastest experience, keep your device connected to Wi-Fi and power while models are downloading.

If you have an earlier software version that supports Apple Intelligence, go to Settings, select Apple Intelligence & Siri, then select Turn on Apple Intelligence.

Apple Intelligence requirements for iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple Vision Pro

• iPhone 16 models, iPhone 15 Pro, or iPhone 15 Pro Max; any iPad with A17 Pro or M1 and later; Mac with M1 or later; Apple Vision Pro

• iOS 18.1 or later, iPadOS 18.1 or later, macOS Sequoia 15.1 or later, and visionOS 2.4

• Device language and Siri language set to the same supported language

• 7 GB of storage

When you change Siri language, Apple Intelligence might become unavailable until the new Siri language fully downloads and matches the device language. If you turn off Apple Intelligence, the on-device models might be removed from your device.

Supported languages

Apple Intelligence is available on supported iPhone, iPac, and Mac models in Chinese (Simplified), English (Australia, Canada, India, Ireland, New Zealand, Singapore, South Africa, UK, and US), French (Belgium, Canada, France, Switzerland), German (Austria, Germany, Switzerland), Italian (Italy, Switzerland), Japanese, Korean, Portuguese (Brazil), Spanish (Chile, Mexico, Spain, US). Apple Intelligence is available on Apple Vision Pro devices set to English (US). 

After you get started with Apple Intelligence, it will continue to work when you travel to other regions around the world.

For European Union residents

Apple Intelligence is available with iOS 18.4 and iPadOS 18.4 or later on supported iPhone and iPad models, and with macOS Sequoia 15.1 or later on supported Mac models.

For China residents

Apple Intelligence will not currently work for supported devices purchased in China mainland. For supported devices purchased outside of China mainland, Apple Intelligence will not currently work if you are in China mainland and if your Apple Account Country/Region is also in China mainland.

When Apple Intelligence is available in China mainland, previously purchased devices that support Apple Intelligence will be able to activate and use it in that region.
