If you have an issue with an Apple Cash transaction

Learn what to do if you don't recognize a charge on your Apple Cash card or see an incorrect charge.

Person-to-person payments

If you don't recognize a person-to-person1 Apple Cash payment in the Wallet app and/or on your debit card, check these things:

  • If you sent someone money but the balance of your Apple Cash2 account was less than the amount of your payment, the remaining balance could have been paid with a debit card you had in Wallet.

  • When you make a person-to-person payment, the amount charged to your Apple Cash balance and to your debit card is shown at the time of transfer.3 The debit card charged will always be a card that was in Wallet on the device you used to make the payment, at the time you made the payment.

  • If you authorized anyone else to use your debit card, make sure that they didn't use it to send the payment.

Once you've confirmed that the charge wasn't made by you or someone with access to your debit card, secure your Apple Account, and contact Apple Support.

If you sent a payment to someone and want to cancel it

In your Apple Cash transaction history, person-to-person payments appear with a name, phone number, or email address. If the transaction status says pending, the receiver hasn't accepted your payment yet, and you can cancel it.

To cancel the payment:

  1. Open the Wallet app, then tap your Apple Cash card.

  2. Tap the transaction, then tap it again on the next screen.

  3. Tap Cancel Payment.

If the payment says Sent, and the Status says Completed, you can't cancel the payment.

Third-party merchant, Apple, and Apple Store transactions

Your Apple Cash balance can be spent at merchants using Apple Pay or with an Apple Cash virtual card number. If you make a purchase using your Apple Cash virtual card number, you'll see it listed in your Apple Card's transaction history in the Wallet app.

Third-party merchants

If you see a purchase that you don't recognize in your Apple Cash card transaction history, secure your Apple Account, and contact Apple Support.

If you see an incorrect charge on a merchant transaction, or a pending incorrect charge, wait 4 business days for it to clear. Sometimes, like with gas purchases and restaurant tips, the final charge may differ from the initial transaction amount. If the charge has cleared and the amount is incorrect, contact the merchant to resolve your issue. You can also contact Apple Support.
