If you can't view a home

If you're unable to view one or multiple homes in the Home app, here's what to do.

Check if homes are upgraded

Follow these steps to upgrade homes that you own to the new Home architecture.* All of the homes that you own are upgraded at the same time.

  1. Open the Home app on your iPhone or iPad with the latest version of iOS or iPadOS, or on your Mac with the latest version of macOS.

  2. Tap or click the More buttonNo alt supplied for Image.

  3. Select Home SettingsNo alt supplied for Image. If you own multiple homes, choose one, then select Home SettingsNo alt supplied for Image.

  4. Select Software Update, tap or click Learn More under Home Upgrade Available, then follow the prompts to upgrade. If you don't see Home Upgrade Available, you already upgraded your homes.

If you didn’t set up a home, ask the owner of the shared home to upgrade. If the shared home owner can't upgrade or chooses not to, you can leave shared homes you no longer need access to.

* iPad is not supported as a home hub on the new Home architecture.

If homes are already upgraded

If Home Upgrade Available doesn't appear under Home Settings > Software Update in the Home app on the home owner's device, the owner's homes are already upgraded.

  1. Update your iPhone or iPad to the latest version of iOS or iPadOS, or your Mac with the latest version of macOS.

  2. Go to Settings (System Settings on Mac) > [your name] > iCloud, and turn on iCloud for Passwords and Keychain.

  3. Go to Settings (System Settings on Mac) > [your name] > Password & Security, and turn on two-factor authentication for Apple Account.

  4. Tap or click the More buttonNo alt supplied for Image to check if you have more than one home. If a home doesn't have accessories, remove it from the Home app. Tap or click the More buttonNo alt supplied for Image, select Home SettingsNo alt supplied for Image, then scroll down and select Remove Home.

If you still can't access a home, contact Apple Support.
