Out-of-warranty service
Repairs are considered out of warranty when:
- Your iPod is over one year old
- Your iPod has an issue that’s not covered under warranty or consumer law, like accidental damage or damage caused by unauthorized modifications
We might be able to fix your iPod for an out-of-warranty fee. If we can’t fix it, you might have to replace it. Replacement equipment that Apple provides as part of the repair or replacement service may contain new or previously used Apple genuine parts that have been tested and pass Apple functional requirements. Contact your service representative for details. The Apple Limited Warranty is in addition to rights provided by consumer law.

Battery service
The Apple Limited Warranty covers a defective battery. We might need to test your iPod to find the cause of your battery issue. If your battery has a defect and it's covered by our warranty or consumer law, we'll replace your iPod at no additional cost.
The warranty doesn’t cover batteries that wear down from normal use. If your iPod isn't covered, we can repair or replace your iPod for a fee.
Screen repair
If your iPod screen is broken, we might be able to service it for an out-of-warranty fee. Accidental damage isn't covered by Apple Warranty. The cost to service it depends on your iPod model. If your screen cracks due to a defect, it’s covered by Apple warranty and consumer law.
We'll run a diagnostic test to see if your iPod needs any other repairs. If it does, we'll let you know.
Apple accessories
The Apple-branded accessories that come in the box with your iPod, including the power adapter, are covered by our warranty and consumer law. For service details, contact Apple or an Apple Authorized Service Provider.
