Get macOS updates and apps

You can get macOS updates, including security updates and apps that come with macOS, in macOS System Settings. And you can download Mac apps and Safari extensions in the App Store.

Get macOS updates

Choose Apple menu > System Settings, then click General in the sidebar. (You may need to scroll down.)
Click Software Update.
Open Software Update settings for me
If there’s an available update, follow the onscreen instructions for installation.

Get Mac apps

On your Mac, choose Apple menu > App Store to open the App Store app.
Open App Store for me
Search for and install apps.
