Sign in to or out of FaceTime on Mac
To make and receive FaceTime calls and phone calls on your Mac, you need to be signed in to FaceTime with your Apple Account. See FaceTime audio and video call requirements.
To stop making and receiving calls through FaceTime, sign out of FaceTime.
Sign in to FaceTime
You can use your Mac to make and receive calls when you’re signed in to FaceTime using your Apple Account. You need to sign in the first time you open the app, or if you’ve signed out.
Go to the FaceTime app on your Mac.
Enter your Apple Account email address or phone number, then click Sign In.
Enter your password, then click Sign In.
If you forgot your Apple Account password or if you need to create an Apple Account, go to the Apple Account website.
After signing in, you can choose a ringtone, turn on features such as Live Photos, and customize other settings. See Change settings.
Stop receiving calls in FaceTime
If you no longer want to receive calls in FaceTime on your Mac, you can sign out. You won’t be able to make calls, receive calls, change FaceTime settings, or view previous calls until you sign in to FaceTime again.
Go to the FaceTime app on your Mac.
Choose FaceTime > Settings, then click General.
Click Sign Out.
Tip: To prevent notifications from disturbing you, you can change or turn off notifications instead. You can also block individual callers if you don’t want to receive calls from them.
