If you're using Internet Sharing to share the Internet connection from your Mac to devices using Wi-Fi, changing your Internet Sharing settings can interrupt Internet service to those devices. Follow these steps to allow your other devices to reconnect using your new settings.

  1. Choose Apple menu () > System Preferences, then click Sharing. Deselect the Internet Sharing checkbox to turn off Internet Sharing.
  2. Restart your Mac.
  3. Open Sharing preferences again and select the Internet Sharing checkbox to turn Internet Sharing back on.
  4. Select the Wi-Fi checkbox in the list of ports, then click Wi-Fi Options and choose your preferred network name, channel, and security setting.
  5. Quit System Preferences. Your other devices should now be able to reconnect to your Mac over Wi-Fi and use its Internet connection.
