iPad Pro 13-inch (M4) Speakers
Before You Begin
Warning
Read Battery Safety and follow workspace and battery handling guidelines before you begin.
Remove the following part before you begin:
Tools
- 1.5 mm slotted screwdriver 
- 13-inch repair tray 
- ESD-safe tweezers 
- Ethanol wipes or isopropyl alcohol (IPA) wipes 
- JCIS bit for crosshead screws 
- Nitrile or lint-free gloves 
- Nylon probe (black stick) 
- Torque driver (black, 0.35 kgf cm) 
Refer to a full list of tools required for all repairs.

Caution
If you remove a speaker, you must replace it.
Note: Skip to the removal or reassembly steps for the speaker you're replacing.
- Bottom Left Woofer 
- Bottom Right Woofer 
- Top Left Woofer 
- Top Right Woofer 
- Bottom Left Tweeter 
- Bottom Right Tweeter 
- Top Left Tweeter 
- Top Right Tweeter 
Bottom Left Woofer
Removal
- Lift the end of the speaker cable off the connector.  
- Use the 1.5 mm slotted screwdriver to pry the speaker out of the enclosure.  
Reassembly
- Use ethanol wipes or IPA wipes to clean all residual adhesive from the enclosure.  
- Peel the adhesive liner from the bottom of the replacement speaker. 
- Place the speaker in the enclosure.  
- Press and hold the top of the speaker for 20 seconds to ensure that it adheres to the enclosure.  
- Place the new shim and foam. Then press and hold the shim and foam to adhere them to the enclosure.  
- Press the end of the speaker cable to the connector.  
Bottom Right Woofer
Removal
- Lift the end of the speaker cable off the connector. Wi-Fi + Cellular models only: Lift the end of the antenna coax cable of the connector.  
- Use the 1.5 mm slotted screwdriver to pry the speaker out of the enclosure.  
Reassembly
- Use ethanol wipes or IPA wipes to clean all residual adhesive from the enclosure.  
- Peel the adhesive liner from the bottom of the replacement speaker. 
- Place the speaker in the enclosure.  
- Press and hold the top of the speaker for 20 seconds to ensure that it adheres to the enclosure.  
- Place the new shim and foam. Then press and hold the shim and foam to adhere them to the enclosure.  
- Press the end of the speaker cable to the connector. Wi-Fi + Cellular models only: Press the end of the antenna coax cable to the connector.  
Top Left Woofer
Removal
- Use a torque driver and the JCIS bit to remove the seven screws from the logic board cowling. Set aside the screws. Remove the cowling. Save the cowling for reassembly.  
- Lift the end of the speaker cable off the connector.  
- Use the 1.5 mm slotted screwdriver to pry the speaker out of the enclosure.  
Reassembly
- Use ethanol wipes or IPA wipes to clean all residual adhesive from the enclosure.  
- Peel the adhesive liner from the bottom of the replacement speaker. 
- Place the speaker in the enclosure.  
- Press and hold the top of the speaker for 20 seconds to ensure that it adheres to the enclosure.  
- Place the new shim and foam. Then press and hold the shim and foam to adhere them to the enclosure.  
- Press the end of the speaker cable to the connector.  
- Use the black torque driver and the JCIS bit to install six new crosshead screws (452-10524) into the logic board cowling.  
- Use the black torque driver and the JCIS bit to install one new crosshead screw (452-05348) into the logic board cowling.  
- Use the black torque driver and the JCIS bit to install one new crosshead screw (452-10832) into the logic board cowling.  
Top Right Woofer
Removal
- Use a torque driver and the JCIS bit to remove seven screws from the logic board cowling. Save the cowling for reassembly.  
- Lift the end of the speaker cable off the connector.  
- Use the 1.5 mm slotted screwdriver to pry the speaker from the enclosure.  
Reassembly
- Use ethanol wipes or IPA wipes to clean all residual adhesive from the enclosure.  
- Peel the adhesive liner from the bottom of the replacement speaker. 
- Place the speaker in the enclosure.  
- Press and hold the top of the speaker for 20 seconds to ensure that it adheres to the enclosure.  
- Adhere new shim and foam.  
- Press the end of the speaker cable to the connector.  
- Use the black torque driver and the JCIS bit to install the six new crosshead screws (452-10524) into the logic board cowling.  
- Use the black torque driver and the JCIS bit to install one new crosshead screw (452-05348) into the logic board cowling.  
- Use the black torque driver and the JCIS bit to install one new crosshead screw (452-10832) into the logic board cowling.  
Bottom Left Tweeter
Removal for Wi-Fi models
- Lift the end of the speaker cable off the connector.  
- Use the 1.5 mm slotted screwdriver to pry the speaker out of the enclosure.  
Reassembly for Wi-Fi models
- Use ethanol wipes or IPA wipes to clean all residual adhesive from the enclosure.  
- Peel the adhesive liner from the bottom of the replacement speaker. 
- Place the speaker in the enclosure.  
- Press and hold the top of the speaker for 20 seconds to ensure that it adheres to the enclosure.  
- Press the end of the speaker cable to the connector.  
Removal for Wi-Fi + Cellular models
- Use a torque driver and the JCIS bit to remove two crosshead screws from the tweeter.  
- Lift the end of the speaker cable off the connector.  
- Peel the antenna flex cable off the tweeter.  
- Use the 1.5 mm slotted screwdriver to pry the speaker out of the enclosure.  
Reassembly for Wi-Fi + Cellular models
- Use ethanol wipes or IPA wipes to clean all residual adhesive from the enclosure.  
- Peel the adhesive liner from the bottom of the replacement speaker. 
- Place the speaker in the enclosure.  
- Press and hold the top of the speaker for 20 seconds to ensure that it adheres to the enclosure.  
- Adhere the antenna flex to the tweeter. Use the black torque driver and the JCIS bit to install two new crosshead screws into the tweeter. - Right: (452-10574) 
- Left: (452-04731)  
 
- Press the end of the antenna flex cable to the connector.  
- Press the end of the speaker cable to the connector.  
Bottom Right Tweeter
Removal for Wi-Fi models
- Lift the end of the speaker cable off the connector.  
- Use the 1.5 mm slotted screwdriver to pry the speaker from the enclosure.  
Reassembly for Wi-Fi models
- Use ethanol wipes or IPA wipes to clean all residual adhesive from the enclosure.  
- Peel the adhesive liner from the bottom of the replacement speaker. 
- Place the speaker in the enclosure.  
- Press and hold the top of the speaker for 20 seconds to ensure that it adheres to the enclosure.  
- Press the end of the speaker cable to the connector.  
Removal for Wi-Fi + Cellular models
- Use a torque driver and the JCIS bit to remove two crosshead screws from the tweeter.  
- Peel the antenna flex cable from the tweeter.  
- Lift the end of the speaker cable off the connector. Lift the end of the antenna flex cable off the connector.  
- Use the 1.5 mm slotted screwdriver to pry the speaker out of the enclosure.  
Reassembly for Wi-Fi + Cellular models
- Use ethanol wipes or IPA wipes to clean all residual adhesive from the enclosure.  
- Peel the adhesive liner from the bottom of the replacement speaker. 
- Place the speaker in the enclosure.  
- Press and hold the top of the speaker for 20 seconds to ensure that it adheres to the enclosure.  
- Use the black torque driver and the JCIS bit to install two new crosshead screws (452-06580) into the tweeter.  
- Press the antenna flex cable to adhere to the tweeter.  
- Press the end of the speaker cable and the end of the antenna coax cable to the connectors.  
Top Left Tweeter
Removal for Wi-Fi models
- Remove the top left woofer.  
- Use a torque driver and the JCIS bit to remove two crosshead screws from the antenna and tweeter.  
- Lift the end of the speaker cable off the connector.  
- Use the 1.5 mm slotted screwdriver to pry the speaker out of the enclosure.  
Reassembly for Wi-Fi models
- Use ethanol wipes or IPA wipes to clean all residual adhesive from the enclosure.  
- Peel the adhesive liner from the bottom of the replacement speaker. 
- Place the speaker in the enclosure.  
- Press and hold the top of the speaker for 20 seconds to ensure that it adheres to the enclosure.  
- Press the end of the speaker cable to the connector.  
Removal for Wi-Fi + Cellular models
- Remove the top left woofer.  
- Use a torque driver and the JCIS bit to remove two crosshead screws from the antenna and tweeter.  
- Peel the antenna flex cable off of the tweeter.  
- Lift the end of the speaker cable off the connector.  
- Use the 1.5 mm slotted screwdriver to pry the speaker from the enclosure.  
Reassembly for Wi-Fi + Cellular models
- Use ethanol wipes or IPA wipes to clean all residual adhesive from the enclosure.  
- Peel the adhesive liner from the bottom of the replacement speaker. 
- Place the speaker in the enclosure.  
- Press and hold the top of the speaker for 20 seconds to ensure that it adheres to the enclosure.  
- Use the black torque driver and the JCIS bit to install two new crosshead screws (452-06580) into the antenna and tweeter.  
- Press the end of the speaker cable to the connector.  
Top Right Tweeter
Removal for Wi-Fi models
- Remove the top right woofer.  
- Lift the end of the speaker cable off the connector.  
- Use the 1.5 mm slotted screwdriver to pry the speaker out of the enclosure.  
Reassembly for Wi-Fi models
- Use ethanol wipes or IPA wipes to clean all residual adhesive from the enclosure.  
- Peel the adhesive liner from the bottom of the replacement speaker. 
- Place the speaker in the enclosure.  
- Press and hold the top of the speaker for 20 seconds to ensure that it adheres to the enclosure.  
- Press the end of the speaker cable to the connector.  
Removal for Wi-Fi + Cellular models
- Remove the top right woofer.  
- Lift the end of the speaker cable off the connector.  
- Use a torque driver and the JCIS bit to remove two crosshead screws from the antenna.  
- Gently peel the antenna off the tweeter.  
- Use the 1.5 mm slotted screwdriver to pry the speaker out of the enclosure.  
Reassembly for Wi-Fi + Cellular models
- Use ethanol wipes or IPA wipes to clean all residual adhesive from the enclosure.  
- Peel the adhesive liner from the bottom of the replacement speaker. 
- Place the speaker in the enclosure.  
- Press and hold the top of the speaker for 20 seconds to ensure that it adheres to the enclosure.  
- Use the black torque driver and the JCIS bit to install two new crosshead screws (452-06580) into the antenna.  
- Press the end of the speaker cable to the connector.  
Reinstall the following part to complete reassembly:
