Populate and create customized documents in Pages on iPad
There are several ways to populate merge fields in a single document. On iPad or Mac, you can drag a Contact card over the desired merge fields. On iPhone, iPad, and Mac, you can create multiple customized documents by merging information from a Contact group or Numbers spreadsheet, and preview how individual information populates before merging.
Populate merge fields with a Contact card
Go to the Pages app on your iPad.
In Split View, open a document with existing merge fields, then open the Contacts app.
Tap and hold the Contact card with the information you want to use to populate the merge fields, then drag the card to the desired field on the document canvas.
All fields of the same type (Sender or Recipient) within the document populate with the Contact card information.
To learn more about Split View, see the iPad User Guide.
Preview individual merge field records
Go to the Pages app on your iPad.
Open a document with existing merge fields, tap at the top of the screen, tap Mail Merge, then tap Merge.
Tap Preview Records under the merge fields list.
Tap the arrows to move through each record, then tap Close when you’re finished.
Note: You can’t change information in the preview window. If you need to make any corrections, update the related information in the Contacts app or the source spreadsheet.
Merge to create customized documents
Go to the Pages app on your iPad.
Open a document with existing merge fields, tap at the top of the screen, tap Mail Merge, then tap Merge.
Tap Merge in the top right of the Mail Merge window.
An option appears to open the new document now or later. If you choose to view later, you can find it in the document manager.
