iPhone 15 Pro Taptic Engine 

Before You Begin

 Warning

Read Battery Safety and follow workspace and battery handling guidelines before you begin.

Remove the following parts before you begin:

Tools

  • 6.1-inch repair tray

  • Adjustable torque driver (10–34 Ncm)

  • ESD-safe tweezers

  • JCIS bit for adjustable torque driver

  • Micro stix bit

  • Nylon probe (black stick)

  • Torque driver (black, 0.35 kgf cm)

Removal

  1. Place the enclosure in the repair tray with the USB-C connector facing the cutout.

  2. Use the adjustable torque driver and adjustable torque driver JCIS bit to remove the two crosshead screws from the Taptic Engine .

  3. Lift the end of the Taptic Engine  flex cable off the connector.

  4. Remove the Taptic Engine .

Reassembly

Important

If you’re reinstalling the existing Taptic Engine , keep the battery shim attached. If you’re installing a replacement Taptic Engine , peel the battery shim off the original Taptic Engine  and adhere it to the replacement.

  1. Inspect the Taptic Engine  grounding spring in the bottom left corner of the enclosure. If the grounding spring isn’t bent or damaged, skip to step 4. If the grounding spring is bent or damaged, continue to step 2.

  2. Note the orientation of the Taptic Engine  grounding spring. Use a torque driver and the Micro stix bit to remove the trilobe screw from the grounding spring. Discard the grounding spring and set aside the screw.

  3. Position the replacement Taptic Engine  grounding spring in the bottom left corner of the enclosure. Then use the black torque driver and Micro stix bit to install one new trilobe screw (923-09566) into the grounding spring.

  4. Position the Taptic Engine  and battery shim in the enclosure.

  5. Press the end of the Taptic Engine  flex cable to the connector.

  6. Set the torque value on the 10–34 Ncm adjustable torque driver to 10 Ncm. Use the adjustable torque driver and adjustable torque driver JCIS bit to install one new crosshead screw (923-09564) (bottom).

  7. Set the torque value on the 10–34 Ncm adjustable torque driver to 13 Ncm. Use the adjustable torque driver and adjustable torque driver JCIS bit to install one new crosshead screw (923-09562) (top).

Reinstall the following parts to complete reassembly:
