If Terminal beeps as you type
If Terminal is set to emulate a VT-100 terminal, some keys are deactivated on the keyboard. When you press a deactivated key, Terminal beeps to indicate that the character wasn’t accepted. You can change the type of terminal being emulated, in Terminal preferences.
Choose Terminal > Preferences, then click Profiles.
Click Advanced.
In the Profiles list, select a profile.
Under Terminfo, click the “Declare terminal as” pop-up menu, then choose the type of terminal.
Select checkboxes to adjust keyboard input and Terminal behavior.
